Justice is not just a law—it’s a responsibility we carry forward.”

Axis Law College, organized an educational visit to Kanpur Central Jail for students of the BA LLB Integrated Course, a rare and apt opportunity to see the working of the criminal justice administration.

Students interacted with and gained valuable insight from the Jail Superintendent and other senior officers during the visit, explaining in detail the internal processes followed in prison administration, management of security, and daily operational protocols.

The officials also highlighted various rehabilitation and reformation initiatives like vocational training, skill development programs, psychological counselling, and legal literacy drives for the inmates.

This exposure allowed students to understand how the theoretical concepts taught in classrooms are applied in real-life legal and correctional settings.

The visit further helped the students to grow in their awareness of human rights, equitable treatment of the inmates, and the challenges that prison authorities face in maintaining a balance between discipline and rehabilitation.

Seeing on-ground legal procedures being followed enhanced their academic learning and strengthened their commitment to supporting justice, reform, and legal aid. On the whole, the visit was more than a useful experiential learning opportunity that broadened the students’ outlook about the system of criminal justice and correction.
