Orientation Programme for Life Sciences Freshers

Kanpur, 5 August 2026: The Department of Life Sciences at Axis Colleges, Kanpur, organized a vibrant Orientation Programme to welcome the new batch of students enrolled in B.Sc. Biotechnology and B.Sc. Medical Microbiology. The event marked the beginning of an enriching academic journey, aimed at introducing students to the academic culture, facilities, and opportunities available at the institution.

The programme was graced by Dr. Ashish Dwivedi, Scientist-D at CSIR–Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR), Lucknow, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his insightful address. He highlighted the rapid advancements in biotechnology and microbiology and their crucial role in transforming healthcare, agriculture, environmental sustainability, and biomedical research. He motivated students to cultivate scientific curiosity, analytical thinking, and strong research aptitude to excel in the competitive scientific world.

The event was held under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Ashish Malik, Director, Axis Colleges, who emphasized the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and holistic student development. He encouraged students to make the best use of the college’s modern laboratories, experienced faculty, and research-driven learning environment.

The session was further led by Dr. Esha Yadav, Head of the Department (HOD), Life Sciences, who extended a warm welcome to the freshers. She briefed them about the department’s vision of integrating theoretical knowledge with practical exposure and fostering innovation in life sciences education.

Faculty members introduced students to the academic structure, syllabus, laboratory training, internship opportunities, industry collaborations, and placement support. They also stressed the importance of discipline, consistency, teamwork, and continuous learning for building successful careers in biotechnology and medical microbiology.

Interactive sessions allowed students to engage with faculty, ask questions, and understand campus life, examination systems, and co-curricular activities. This helped them feel more confident and connected to the institution.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, Director, HOD, faculty members, and students.
