Industrial Visit at FFDC Axis Colleges, with the help of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, organized an interesting tour to the Fragrance & Flavour Development Centre (FFDC) in Kannauj to show how important hands-on experience is for young scientists. The Axis Institute of Pharmacy, B.Sc. Biotechnology, and B.Sc. Microbiology students were the target audience for this instructional program, which aimed to integrate what they learned in school with how it is used in the real world.
Kannauj, which is regarded as the “Perfume Capital of India,” is home to the famous FFDC. This national-level institution is dedicated to researching, developing, and promoting technologies that make scents and flavors. The trip gave students a great chance to see how traditional methods and current scientific methods work together perfectly to make natural extracts, essential oils, and aromatic compounds.
The students were shown around several parts of the building, such as the extraction units, distillation chambers, testing labs, quality control departments, and research and development (R&D) divisions. They saw how modern technologies like steam distillation, solvent extraction, gas chromatography, and mass spectrometry were used to turn basic plant ingredients into high-quality scents and flavors.
Experts at FFDC held instructive lectures to discuss how phytochemistry, microbiological analysis, and biotechnological procedures help make sure that products are pure, safe, and effective. The tour taught Pharmacy students how aromatic chemicals are used in cosmetics and medicines, while Biotechnology and Microbiology students learned how microbial cultures and bioprocesses are important for fermentation and flavor production.
This trip to an industrial site also stressed the need of eco-friendly and sustainable methods in modern industry, encouraging students to think of new ideas that are good for the environment. Interactive talks and demonstrations made students curious and let them talk directly with scientists and professionals in the field.
Axis Colleges thinks that observation is a great way to learn, especially in fields that are based on experimenting and new ideas. The trip to FFDC was a big step toward helping kids develop a scientific mindset, comprehend different fields, and be ready for the workforce.
Axis Colleges strives to encourage a well-rounded educational atmosphere where learning goes beyond the classroom and into labs, businesses, and the future of science and technology. —
