First-Year Architecture Students Explored Surveying Lab Tools

Introduction to surveying instruments and measurement techniques for B.Arch first-year students The first-year students of the Bachelor of Architecture program were recently introduced to the fundamentals of surveying and measurement through an engaging session held in the surveying laboratory.

This visit marked an important step in bridging theoretical knowledge with practical understanding, helping students become familiar with essential tools and techniques used in the field.During the session, faculty members from both the Architecture and Civil Engineering departments collaboratively guided the students through the basics of surveying.

They explained the significance of accurate measurement in architectural and construction practices, emphasizing how these tools play a crucial role in site analysis, planning, and execution of projects.Students were introduced to a variety of surveying instruments, including leveling tools, measuring tapes, and other essential equipment.

The faculties demonstrated how each instrument is used, its purpose, and the level of precision it offers. This hands-on exposure allowed students to better grasp concepts that are often limited to classroom discussions.Adding further value to the session, the Director of Architecture, Dr. Rishi Raj Kapoor, personally interacted with the students and provided insightful guidance.

He emphasized the importance of developing a strong foundation in surveying techniques, as they form the backbone of accurate design and construction processes. His interaction encouraged students to approach practical learning with curiosity and attention to detail. The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating, asking questions, and engaging with the instruments.

This experience not only enhanced their technical understanding but also sparked interest in the practical aspects of architecture.Overall, the surveying lab visit proved to be an informative and enriching experience for the first-year students, setting a strong base for their future academic and professional journey in architecture.
