World Menstrual Hygiene Day – AIP awareness Session on Menstrual Health and PCOS: Breaking Stigmas, Empowering Futures
Axis Colleges recently organized an impactful and highly informative awareness session led by Dr. Reena Mattoo (MBBS, MD), focusing on menstrual health education, hygiene practices, and managing Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). The session was part of our ongoing commitment to fostering health awareness, breaking societal taboos, and empowering our students—especially young women—with knowledge that directly impacts their well-being.
Dr. Mattoo, a seasoned medical expert, delivered an enlightening talk that not only shed light on essential aspects of menstrual hygiene but also debunked myths and taboos surrounding menstruation—a topic often shrouded in silence. With warmth and clarity, she emphasized the importance of adopting healthy practices, recognizing early signs of menstrual disorders, and seeking timely medical intervention.
A key highlight of the session was her deep dive into Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)—a condition increasingly affecting young women. She explained its causes, symptoms, and lifestyle-based management techniques, encouraging students to be proactive in caring for their health through balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and stress management.
The session saw active participation from female students, who engaged enthusiastically with the speaker. Many shared personal queries and received expert advice, making the session not only educational but also deeply personal and supportive. The open and stigma-free environment allowed students to speak freely about concerns they often hesitate to express.
By creating a safe space for discussion and awareness, this session played a crucial role in empowering young women to make informed choices about their health. It also reinforced Axis Colleges’ mission to not only promote academic excellence but also nurture the holistic well-being of every student.
We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Reena Mattoo for her invaluable insights and to all the participants for making the event a meaningful success.
Together, let’s continue breaking taboos, spreading awareness, and building a healthier, more informed generation!
