Smart Transformer Health Monitoring System Using IOT
Smart Transformer Health Monitoring System developed by Students of Department of Electrical Engineering at Axis Institute of Technology & Management. The Smart Transformer Health Monitoring System using IoT is developed to ensure reliable and efficient operation of distribution transformers through continuous real-time monitoring.
Transformers are critical components in power distribution networks, and their unexpected failure can lead to power outages, equipment damage, and high maintenance costs. Traditional inspection methods are periodic and manual, making it difficult to detect faults at an early stage. To overcome these limitations, the proposed system integrates various sensors to monitor key parameters such as temperature, voltage, load current, oil level, and humidity.
These sensors are connected to a microcontroller that collects and processes data, which is then transmitted to a cloud platform using IoT communication technologies such as Wi-Fi or GSM. The system allows remote access to transformer health data through a web dashboard or mobile application, enabling continuous supervision from any location. When abnormal conditions or threshold violations are detected, instant alerts are sent to maintenance personnel, allowing timely corrective action and preventing major failures.
Additionally, the stored historical data can be analyzed to support predictive maintenance and improve asset management. This IoT-based monitoring solution enhances transformer reliability, reduces downtime and operational costs.
The project is completed under the guidance of Dr. Shailu Sachan, Ms. Madhuri Singh and Mr. Suraj Agnihotri and the core team members are Kartikey Rathore , Sachin Prajapati, Utkarsh Sonker and Ashutosh Chatterji of B.tech EE III Yr. On this remarkable achievement Institute Director Dr. Ashish Malik congratulated the students and faculty mentors. Our Honorable Chairman Mr. Raj Kushwaha Sir also extended his heartfelt appreciation to the students and faculties for innovation, dedication, and nurturing problem-solving skill and wishes them continued growth, learning, and even greater success in the future.
