Civil Engineering Students Aditya Sahu, Aishwarya Tiwari, and Govind Kumar Published Research Paper in IRJET The Civil Engineering Department of Axis Institute of Technology proudly celebrates the remarkable academic achievement of final-year students Aditya Sahu, Aishwarya Tiwari, and Govind Kumar, who have successfully published their research paper titled “Improvising Red Soil’s Geotechnical Performance with Polypropylene and Gypsum” in the reputed IRJET (International Research Journal of Engineering and Technology).
This accomplishment reflects the students’ dedication towards research, innovation, and sustainable engineering practices while bringing recognition to the institution in the field of Civil Engineering. The research focuses on enhancing the geotechnical properties of red soil, a widely available soil type that often presents challenges in construction due to its relatively low strength and stability. With the increasing demand for cost-effective and sustainable ground improvement techniques, the students explored the use of polypropylene fibers and gypsum as stabilizing materials to improve the engineering behavior of red soil.
The study aimed to develop an economical and environmentally friendly solution that could be effectively utilized in infrastructure and construction projects. As part of the research, the students conducted an extensive series of laboratory experiments and geotechnical tests to evaluate important soil parameters such as compaction characteristics, shear strength, bearing capacity, and overall stability.
The results demonstrated significant improvements in the engineering performance of red soil after the addition of polypropylene fibers and gypsum. The findings highlighted the potential of these materials to enhance soil strength, reduce settlement, and improve durability, thereby contributing to safer and more sustainable construction practices. The research work was carried out under the expert guidance of Md. Shariq, whose constant support, technical expertise, and encouragement played a crucial role throughout the research journey.
His mentorship inspired the students to explore innovative solutions to practical geotechnical challenges and helped them develop a deeper understanding of modern soil stabilization techniques and research methodologies. The publication of this research paper marks a significant milestone in the academic journey of the students and reflects the department’s commitment to promoting research-oriented learning.
Through this project, the students gained valuable experience in experimental investigation, data analysis, technical writing, and scientific publication, strengthening their academic and professional capabilities.Congratulating the students on their achievement, Md. Shariq, HOD, Civil Engineering Department, appreciated their dedication, hard work, and research-oriented mindset.
He emphasized that the department continuously encourages students to participate in innovative research activities and provides them with the necessary guidance and resources to contribute meaningfully to the engineering profession. He further stated that such accomplishments motivate other students to pursue research and innovation while addressing real-world engineering challenges.
Faculty members and fellow students of the Civil Engineering Department also extended their heartfelt congratulations to Aditya Sahu, Aishwarya Tiwari, and Govind Kumar for their outstanding accomplishment. Their success serves as an inspiration for aspiring engineers and highlights the importance of research in developing practical and sustainable solutions for the construction industry.
This publication once again showcases Axis Institute of Technology’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and research-driven education. By fostering a culture of inquiry, creativity, and technical excellence, the institute continues to prepare future engineers capable of contributing effectively towards sustainable infrastructure development and nation-building.
