Department of Fine Arts Organises Academic Visit to Lucknow
Lucknow, 11 September 2026:
The Department of Fine Arts successfully organised an Academic Field Visit to Lucknow on 11 September 2026, providing students with an enriching opportunity to engage with India’s artistic heritage, contemporary art practices, museums, galleries, and professional art spaces.
The visit undertaken by 23 students accompanied by 3 faculty members. As part of the academic itinerary, the students visited the State Museum, Lucknow, where they explored significant collections reflecting India’s rich cultural and artistic heritage.
The visit offered valuable insights into historical art, sculpture, artefacts, and the evolution of Indian visual culture.
The group also visited the Lalit Kala Akademi Regional Centre, Lucknow, where students introduced to the functioning of an important national institution dedicated to the promotion and development of visual arts. The interaction provided students with a closer understanding of contemporary art practices, exhibitions, and opportunities within the
professional art ecosystem.
The final destination was Kalasrot Art Gallery, where students experienced contemporary artworks in a professional gallery environment. The visit encouraged students to observe different artistic approaches, understand exhibition practices, and engage with the contemporary art scene beyond the classroom.
The academic visit designed to bridge classroom learning with direct observation and real-world artistic experiences, encouraging students to develop a deeper understanding of art, culture, exhibitions, and professional practices. The exposure is expected to contribute meaningfully to their creative development and broaden their perspective as emerging artists and designers.
