Industrial Visit

Axis Institute of Fashion Technology (AIFT) recently organized an Industry visit to Globe Tanners in Kanpur for BFAD and Diploma FDGT students as part of their Leather Accessory Design Project. The visit aimed to give students practical exposure to the leather industry and help them understand how their classroom learning is applied in real-world production.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore one of the most well-known leather goods manufacturing units. They observed the complete process of leather product creation, starting from the initial stage of product development and design to prototyping and final production. This hands-on experience helped them connect theoretical knowledge with actual industrial practices.

The students were guided through different departments where they learned how leather accessories such as belts, bags, and backpacks are manufactured for both men and women. Industry experts explained each step in a simple and clear manner, making it easier for students to understand the workflow and precision required in production lines.

A key highlight of the visit was learning about leather hand weaving techniques. Students were introduced to methods like braiding and interlacing, which play an important role in creating unique and high-quality designs. This exposure not only enhanced their technical knowledge but also inspired them to think creatively in their own design projects.

The visit also allowed students to interact with skilled workers and professionals, giving them insights into industry standards, quality control, and innovation in leather manufacturing. Such interactions helped students understand the importance of discipline, teamwork, and attention to detail in the production process.

Overall, the industry visit proved to be a valuable learning experience. It provided students with real-time industrial exposure and strengthened their understanding of leather accessory production. This practical knowledge will greatly support their future careers and add depth to their design skills, making them more confident and industry-ready pprofessionals.
