A Drug-Free Youth is the Strength of a Strong and Healthy Nation.
Axis Institute of Higher Education (AIHE), under the umbrella of Axis Colleges, in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS), organised an Extension Activity to create awareness among people about the harmful effects of all types of drugs and substance abuse.
The initiative aimed to educate the community, particularly young people, about the serious physical, psychological, social and professional consequences of drug abuse. Through meaningful community interaction, students highlighted the importance of making healthy and responsible choices and encouraged people to stay away from substance abuse.
As part of the extension activity, students actively participated in awareness talks, personal interaction with community members, poster and slogan campaigns, distribution of awareness material, interactive discussions and a pledge for a drug-free society. These activities provided an effective platform for students to communicate the dangers of drug addiction and promote a healthier and more responsible lifestyle.
The programme also connected classroom learning with practical community engagement. Management students got an opportunity to apply essential managerial competencies such as leadership, teamwork, communication, planning, coordination, public speaking, problem-solving and event management. By organising and conducting the awareness activities, students developed confidence in handling real-world situations while contributing towards a meaningful social cause.
The initiative reflected AIHE’s commitment to holistic education, social responsibility and community development. Such extension activities enable students to understand their role as responsible citizens and future professionals while developing values of empathy, leadership and community service.
The activity concluded with a strong message that preventing drug abuse requires collective responsibility and continuous awareness. AIHE and NSS reaffirmed their commitment to empowering youth and communities with knowledge and encouraging them to contribute towards building a healthier, safer and drug-free society.
