Introduction to Drug Delivery Systems- AIHE Axis Colleges Hosts Enlightening Session on “Introduction to Drug Delivery Systems”
In a step toward enriching the academic exposure of its science scholars, Axis Colleges successfully organized an enlightening session on “Introduction to Drug Delivery Systems”, exclusively designed for students pursuing B.Sc. in Biotechnology, Medical Microbiology, and Pharmacy.
The session was led by the distinguished Dr. Uma Shankar, an accomplished scientist holding a Master’s and Doctorate in Life Sciences from Kanpur University, with a highly respected tenure at CSIR-IITR (Indian Institute of Toxicology Research). His extensive knowledge and practical insights into the field brought a unique depth to the learning experience, leaving students both informed and inspired.
Dr. Uma Shankar delved into the fundamentals and innovations of Drug Delivery Systems (DDS), guiding students through key topics such as methods of drug administration, the mechanics of delivery devices, targeted delivery techniques, and the evolving applications of nano-biotechnology in medicine. One of the highlights of the session was an in-depth exploration of nanoparticles and their role in enhancing drug efficacy, paving the way for more precise, controlled, and patient-specific therapies.
Beyond the science, Dr. Shankar shared the story of his own professional journey, emphasizing the importance of perseverance, research, and interdisciplinary knowledge in shaping a successful career in life sciences. His motivational narrative resonated strongly with attendees, many of whom expressed a renewed sense of purpose and curiosity.
The session not only broadened the scientific horizons of students but also reinforced Axis Colleges’ mission to offer holistic education that bridges classroom learning with real-world application. Through such initiatives, the college continues to nurture the next generation of biotechnologists, microbiologists, and pharmacists, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration to contribute meaningfully to healthcare and scientific innovation.
