Visit to PGCIL – AITM

Axis Colleges organized an insightful industrial visit to the 400/220KV substation at PGCIL Kanpur for its electrical engineering students.

This visit provided students with hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of practical equipment and software systems, including SCADA, used for automatic control and data communication in the substation.

Guided by field professionals, students explored connections in transmission lines and various instruments, such as power transformers, Neutral Grounding Resistors (NGR), voltage reactors, Lightning Arresters (LA), Intermediate Current Transformers (ICT), wave traps, bus bars, reactors, and GIS substations.

They also learned about sensing, measuring, and control devices crucial for continuous analysis and electricity management.

Students interacted with the General Manager and other officials, who explained the intricacies of electricity transmission across vast distances and the importance of grid stability.

This visit significantly enhanced students’ understanding of the electrical grid’s complexity and the technology involved in ensuring a reliable power supply.
