Visit to DMSRDE Axis Colleges Celebrates National Technology Day with a Trip to DMSRDE in Kanpur

In honor of National Technology Day 2023, Axis Colleges’ Innovation Council (IIC) took students from the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) department on an interesting and inspiring visit to the Defence Materials and Stores Research and Development Establishment (DMSRDE) in Kanpur on May 12.

DMSRDE is a top lab that is part of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). It is known for its cutting-edge work on advanced materials and defense technology. The visit was a great chance for ECE students to see how technology, innovation, and national security all come together.

Senior scientists and technical officers of DMSRDE greeted the students and gave them a detailed description of the facility’s role in creating high-performance materials, electronics systems, and communication technologies for use in defense. Students learned about the important roles engineers play in keeping the country safe using smart fabrics, sophisticated composites, and electronic warfare systems.

The visit gave a close look at the research labs and testing facilities where prototypes are made and tested. Students were especially interested in how complex electronic systems used for monitoring, communication, and data transmission work together, since these topics are quite similar to what they are learning in school. They learned how to apply what they learned in class about signal processing, embedded systems, and microwave engineering by doing it themselves.

Along with learning about the technical side of things, students also had interactive sessions with scientists where they talked about how important it is to be innovative, research-oriented, and knowledgeable in more than one field for modern engineering jobs. Students were interested in defense-grade technology and research and development procedures, which made them think about careers outside of the usual ones and look into jobs in the defense and research fields.

Axis Colleges is happy to give its students learning opportunities that go beyond textbooks and encourage them to be innovative, curious, and responsible citizens. The trip to DMSRDE was not only a way to celebrate National Technology Day, but it was also a poignant reminder of how important young engineers are to the future of national security and technical independence.
