Kanpur: The NSS Unit of Axis Institute of Higher Education (AIHE), under Axis Colleges, in association with Young Indians (YI), Kanpur under CII, organised an impactful Road Safety and CPR Awareness Session for students. The initiative aimed to create awareness about responsible road behaviour, emergency response and the importance of basic life-saving skills.
The session was conducted by Dr. Pradeep Tandon and Dr. (Col.) Sumit Gupta, who interacted with the students and provided practical insights into CPR, Basic Life Support (BLS) and road safety measures. The experts highlighted how timely intervention and the correct use of CPR can significantly improve the chances of saving a life during a medical emergency.
Dr. Pradeep Tandon, Plastic Surgeon, Secretary – Pranodaya, Director – Kanishka Hospital and Associate Professor at Rama Medical College, shared valuable guidance on emergency response and the importance of being prepared to act responsibly during critical situations.
Dr. (Col.) Sumit Gupta, Consultant Anaesthesiologist and an alumnus of AFMC, Pune, brought extensive experience in CPR and BLS training. He has been associated with CPR-BLS training since 2002 and has conducted 637+ workshops. He also serves as Vice President of Pranodaya and has worked as a Medical Advisor and former Director with Rahman Industries and Euro Footwear Ltd. His contributions to social service have been recognised through the IMA National Award for Social Service in 2024 and the IMA Kanpur Ratan Award in 2022.
The session encouraged students to understand that road safety is not merely about following traffic rules but also about taking responsibility for the safety and well-being of others. The practical awareness on CPR and BLS further empowered students to respond confidently during emergencies.
The programme reflected AIHE’s commitment to student awareness, community engagement, social responsibility and life-saving education.
