Geotechnical property investigation done by third year Civil Engineering students.

The Civil Engineering Department of Axis Colleges conducts a comprehensive soil sample testing practical session, providing students with essential hands-on experience in geotechnical engineering. The activity forms an important part of the academic curriculum and focuses on enhancing students’ practical knowledge and technical understanding.

The session is carried out under the guidance of Head of Department Md Shariq, ensuring proper academic supervision and quality learning. The practical is conducted by faculty member Mr.Sikander Kumar, who actively guides students throughout the process and demonstrates standard testing procedures.

During the session, students perform key soil tests including moisture content test, sieve analysis, and Atterberg limits. These tests help in determining important soil properties such as grain size distribution, plasticity, and water content, which are crucial for safe and effective construction practices. Students carefully collect soil samples and analyze them using laboratory equipment, following standard methods.

This session creates an interactive learning environment where students actively participate and gain a clear understanding of theoretical concepts through real-time application. They also learn about the importance of soil testing in foundation design, site investigation, and construction safety.

The guidance of the Head of Department ensures that the session is conducted in a systematic and disciplined manner, while the continuous support from the faculty member helps students improve their technical skills and confidence.

Overall, the geotechnical property investigation proves to be a valuable academic exercise, helping students develop a strong foundation in geotechnical engineering and preparing them for real-world challenges in the field of civil engineering.
